The Band

Cisza is a Polish metal band formed in 2017 by members of the heavy metal outfit Derisum. Mateusz Stachelek on rhythm and lead guitar, Piotr Ładyżyński on vocals and rhythm guitar, and Artur Puźniak on bass had been playing together since 2011, gaining recognition with Derisum’s 2014 EP Entering the Flames of the Ancient Gods and performing numerous concerts across Poland.

In 2016, following the addition of Szymon Żbikowski on drums, the band began to undergo a significant change in musical direction, increasingly incorporating elements of black metal into its sound. As the new material moved further away from Derisum’s original style, the musicians decided to continue their journey under a new name: Cisza.

In 2017, Cisza released its debut EP, If It Is True What the Prophets Write. The record included two songs originally written during the Derisum era alongside two new compositions that reflected the band’s evolving direction. The EP introduced Cisza’s distinctive blend of black metal, heavy metal and progressive rock, combining blast beats and tremolo-picked passages with melodic heavy metal riffing and more progressive guitar work. Delicate lead melodies, unconventional scales and atmospheric passages became increasingly important elements of the band’s sound.

In March 2021, Cisza released the single Ritual of Wind, offering the first glimpse of what would become the band’s debut full-length album, She Yearns for Other Worlds. The track combined energetic black metal with a more atmospheric, post-rock-influenced backdrop and marked another step in the development of Cisza’s sound. The band entered the studio in September 2021 to record the remainder of the album, subsequently releasing the singles Withered Blackened Heart and Path of the Dwarves, both accompanied by music videos, in 2022.

She Yearns for Other Worlds was finally released in March 2023, including a limited vinyl edition of 150 copies alongside digital and streaming releases. The album represented a new chapter for Cisza, expanding the band’s mixture of black metal, melodic heavy metal, progressive rock and atmospheric influences into a more cohesive and ambitious full-length work.

Following the release of She Yearns for Other Worlds, Cisza entered a period of significant change. Szymon Żbikowski left the band after relocating abroad, and in 2025 Artur Puźniak also departed as the band’s developing musical direction no longer aligned with his own.

Throughout 2024 and 2025, Piotr Ładyżyński and Mateusz Stachelek continued writing material for the next chapter of Cisza while keeping the band active on stage. During this period, Cisza completed a three-city mini-tour across Poland in support of She Yearns for Other Worlds, introducing audiences to Untrodden Paths of Satan, the first preview of the band’s forthcoming second album.

In autumn 2026, Cisza returns with its second full-length album, Untrodden Paths of Satan. Building on the atmospheric and progressive foundations of She Yearns for Other Worlds, the new record marks the next evolution of the band’s sound and the beginning of a new chapter in Cisza’s history.
